The Great Thanksgiving Holiday

One of my favorite Holidays is Thanksgiving. I like this holiday for many reasons. Some are because i get to spend time with family, you get to eat all of the great Thanksgiving food, and you get to be thankful for what you have.
I also like that it is less about giving like Christmas is and instead being thankful for what you have. Every year for Thanksgiving, my family goes to Louisiana to my Grandparents where the rest of my family gather and spend time with each other. I really enjoy doing this and hope that we will keep doing this in the future. This picture is a great example of family gathering together to enjoy a great thanksgiving meal.

What Will I Later Do?

Wednesday November 16, at DCA we had our carrier day. Our carrier day is a day where we go around to different classes that we have chosen to go to and listen to people with different carries that have come to tell us about it. I choose Law, Business, Medicine, and Engineering. Of all of those options, my favorite was Law and Business. I liked these two because i really like the business part about it. The thing i liked most about business is that you could take a variety of college courses in order to get into this profession. The thing i liked about Law is that when in the profession, you are your own boss and can flex or work out your work hours and when you take vacations and things like that. In the picture below, you see a picture of a law building. This shows a type of building that a lawyer would work in. I really like carrier day because it helped you get an idea of what i want to do later in life.

Ancient Roman Lunch

Friday in my English class, we had to do a project. The project i picked was a Roman lunch or as they called it Prandium. For my project I had to create a power point about roman lunch and prepare a dish based off of roman food. For my power point, i showed all of the food and drinks they ate and drank which included: bread, olives, fruit, nuts, salad, cheese, cold meat, and watered down wine. I learned that the reason the ate cold meat was because the meat was left over from the night before. I also learned that they ate lunch at 11 a.m. and then after would have a resting time. And when eating lunch the wealthy men would eat laying on a couch on their sides and the women and lower class would eat sitting in chairs. And everyone would eat by using their hands except when eating soup. In that case they would eat with spoons. Then for my food that i brought in i took cold meat, cheese, olives, and white grape juice for white wine. This was a fun project and i would recommend it because you learn a lot while doing it. And also below i have posted a link of my food project.

Self Refining and Christian Ways

Today in our English class, we are discussing one of our spiritual emphasis weeks topics. The topic is Refining ourselves. Our refining process starts with us as people with sin as a major part as our lives. Then the refining begins as we accept Christ into our life and begin to fallow God. And we keep getting more and more refined as we begin to live our lives fallowing Christ and acting as a christian. This picture describes the silver refining process. Our refining is much like the silvers. The silver starts as a piece of silver. Then they heat the silver up to get it into a liquid state. This is like us being reshaped or reformed. Then they add all of the chemicals to the silver to get all of the bad chemicals out. That is like what God is doing to us. Then those steps are repeated until you have a new piece of silver, much like us.

Another point that we our talking about is; if you are going to say you are a christian you should act like one. Today we see a lot of people who say they are Christians but might not act like one. In Chapel, the preacher was saying how Christians don't need to be Hippocrates. He was saying how if you are truly a follower of God, you should want to act as he would want you too and to show his name through you and your actions. The picture of the Bible shows how we could act as Christians and share Gods name to people who haven't heard it.
